Basic Sciences: PhD, MA, MSc

One year CSS membership as a Research Scientist at the level of PhD, MA or MSc (but not enrolled at a University as a Student, Resident or Postdoctoral fellow).

 


 

Clinical Psychologist

One year CSS membership as a Registered Clinical Psychologist who is fully licensed for autonomous practice.

 

Optional Sleep Medicine Provider Map Listing

As a benefit of membership, Registered Clinical Psychologists may optionally choose to list themselves as individual practitioners on the CSS Sleep Medicine provider map, to assist patients finding health services in sleep medicine.

In order to be listed publicly on the provider map, Registered Clinical Psychologists are expected to have specialized training in sleep medicine, including:

  • European Sleep Research Society Somnologist designation
  • Graduate work in behavioural sleep medicine
  • Clinical training and experience in providing evidence-based sleep treatments including CBT-I

These qualifications are not required for membership in the CSS, only to be listed publicly on the Provider Map.

 


 

Dentist

One year CSS membership as a Dentist. Membership includes compulsory contribution to dental CPD fund of $100 per annum.

 

Optional Sleep Medicine Provider Map Listing for Oral Application Therapy Providers

As a benefit of membership, Dentists who are Oral Appliance Therapy Providers may optionally choose to list themselves as individual practitioners on the CSS Sleep Medicine provider map, to assist patients finding health services in sleep medicine.

In order to be listed publicly on the provider map, dentists are expected to offer oral appliance therapy and have specialized training in sleep medicine, including:

  • Current license to practice dentistry from a Canadian province
  • Documentation to indicate training in dental sleep medicine from a University, non-profit, non-commercially connected organization (examples would be completion of a University Mini Residency, a graduate program (Msc or PhD) focused on DSM, AADSM diploma status or AADSM qualified dentist status). You will be asked to provide this documentation after your make your application to be listed on the map

These qualifications are not required for membership in the CSS, only to be listed publicly on the Provider Map.

 


 

Emeritus

One year CSS membership as an Emeritus member of the society.

 


 

Organization, Corporation

One year CSS membership as an Organization or Corporation.

 


 

Other Health Professional

One year CSS membership as a certified allied Health Professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Recreational Therapist, RRT, RCPT, etc).

 


 

Physician

One year CSS membership as a Physician who is licensed and in good standing with Provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons.

 

Optional Sleep Medicine Provider Map Listing

As a benefit of membership, Physicians may optionally choose to list themselves as individual practitioners on the CSS Sleep Medicine provider map, to assist patients finding health services in sleep medicine.

In order to be listed publicly on the provider map, physicians are expected to have specialized training in sleep medicine, including:

  • Diploma of the American Board of Sleep Medicine
  • European Sleep Research Society Somnologist
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Sleep Medicine Diploma
  • American Board of Medical Specialties, Certified in Sleep Medicine
  • Other (this would be for those who have documented experience with appropriate oversight, without official training, subject to review by the membership committee)

These qualifications are not required for membership in the CSS, only to be listed publicly on the Provider Map.

 


 

Sleep Clinic

One year membership for a level I or level II/III Sleep Clinic. It is required that the clinic have a Medical Director with formal credentials in Sleep Medicine and provincial accreditation by Provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons, or Hospital Accreditation. Sleep clinics in this category may be listed on the CSS provider map.

Please note that the clinic membership is not intended to replace a personal membership. It is intended to provide representation for the clinic on the CSS Sleep Medicine provider map, but does not allow individuals working at the clinic to have access to the CSS resources as members.

Since it is not possible to have multiple memberships with the same email address, the administrator who registers the sleep clinic membership should use a different email for the sleep clinic and their personal membership when logging in (for example, a physician who registers the clinic and has a personal membership would need to use a different login/email address for each).

 


 

Sleep Educator

One year CSS membership as a Sleep Educator who holds a Certification in Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) or equivalent. Sleep Educators are healthcare providers and educators who work directly with sleep medicine patients, families, and practitioners to coordinate and manage patient care, improve outcomes, educate patients and the community, and advocate for the importance of good sleep.

To be eligible for membership, sleep educators are expected to have:

  • Clinical Experience - At least 1000 hours of experience in clinical sleep health AND a bachelor’s degree or above.
  • Healthcare Credential - (ie. RPSGT, RN) Approved healthcare credential, working in the Sleep field AND an associate’s degree or above.

 


 

Student, Resident, Postdoc

One year CSS membership as a Student, Resident, or Postdoctoral Fellow enrolled in a training program at a University or Academic institution. The trainee will be required to provide information about their institution of study, supervisor, and duration of study.

 


 

Technologist

One year CSS membership as a Sleep Technologist (RPSGT, CPSGT, RST, or RET).
