The Canadian Sleep Society (CSS) has 2 openings for the Executive board in June 2020:
- Vice-President (Research), 3-year term
- Member-at-large Dental, 3-year term
You can volunteer as a candidate for this position or nominate a colleague. If you nominate a colleague, please first verify that your colleague accepts the nomination and provide the person’s email contact. You must be a CSS member in good standing to sit on the board.

The Duties of the VP Research include:
- Duties specific to your portfolio.
- Attend CSS executive meetings (twice per year) and the AGM. In the event that you cannot attend a meeting, please submit a written report.
- Submit an item in our newsletter “Vigilance” to the editor, in response to an e-mailed request; two issues per year.
- Represent the CSS at meetings such as funding agencies, e.g. CIHR, or events hosted by other societies, if required.
- As VP Research you will Chair the Scientific Program committee for the conference. Liaise with the President and Past-President, VP Clinical, and Local organizing Chair, as well as Student and Technologist representatives regarding the program.
- Coordinate the (i) annual CSS abstract competition and (ii) co-sponsored CIHR travel fellowship.
- Coordinate the Distinguished Scientist and Young Investigator awards presented at CSS conferences.
- Assist in obtaining sponsorship or exhibitors for educational activities of the CSS.
The Duties of the Member-at-large (Dental) include:
- Represent the Dental Interest Group at meetings of the executive of the CSS/SCS.
- Attend CSS executive meetings (twice per year) and the AGM. In the event that you cannot attend a meeting, please submit a written report.
- Oversee the financial statement for the Dental Interest Group as prepared by F+A. The CSS membership dues for DMD for 2009 are $150 and, as requested by your Dental Interest Group, the annual registration will include an additional fee of $100. These additional funds will be transferred to a separate account for this group.
- Liaise with the member-at-large responsible for membership regarding membership drives.
- Submit an item in our newsletter “Vigilance”. Please submit a short report to introduce your special interest group to the CSS members and include a personal statement to introduce yourself as well.
- Represent the CSS at meetings such as funding agencies, e.g. CIHR, or events hosted by other societies, if required.
- Contribute to educational activities, for example the scientific conference or CME events. Continue to liaise with the VP Research regarding the program.
- Assist in obtaining sponsorship or exhibitors for educational activities of the CSS/SCS as
they relate to the Dental profession.
