Join a dynamic team and volunteer on new trainee projects today!
The Canadian Sleep Society is looking for volunteers to work on two new projects brought forth by one of our trainees. It’s the perfect opportunity to join a dynamic team and work on projects that will highlight the importance of sleep and sleep policy to the public.
We will be collaborating with Madhura Lotlikar, from McGill University, on her Share Your Sleep Story project and her Sleep Policy Podcast:
Share Your Sleep Story is a project dedicated to bringing to light the real-life experiences of those faced with insufficient sleep—a night shift worker, a medical resident, individuals with sleep disorders, or long-haul drivers. Through candid conversations, these stories aim to capture the often overlooked variability of the impact of sleep and its loss on individuals’ lives. The CSS will host this project on its website, starting in September 2024.
The Sleep Policy Podcast will feature engaging discussions with sleep experts across various sectors, about the ways sleep research can shape public health and influence policy. The podcast will be available through the CSS website and streaming platforms in October 2024.
We are looking for volunteers to fill in the following roles in both projects:
- Podcast audio editor:
Edit the podcast episode into a coherent story and flow ready for release.
Collaborate closely with our hosts on the episode flow, and, if possible, contribute to the episode’s production. - Social Media Specialist:
Listen or read the content of the podcast/ sleep story and extract impactful quotes and audio snippets for social media dissemination.
Create engaging social media posts for platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook that captivate our audience. - Writer:
Research the podcast interviewees and topics of discussion and formulate questions. This will involve reading papers and any relevant information.
Collaborate with hosts to brainstorm and shape episode ideas.
